While in Davao City we faithfully attended worship services here with the saints.
I was blessed to be able to travel with the some of the preachers from Davao City, roughly an hour northwest of Calinan. We were supposed to go to a different area, but after we arrived we were told that the NPA (New People’s Army) and Philippine Army were both in that area, because of this, the brothers, wanting to keep me safe, decided for us not to travel there.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for _all the Lord's people_.” Eph 6:18
Every moment of every day the Lord watches the sun rise on his people. Remember, when the sun is setting where you are; it is also rising somewhere else.

The week of April 9th, 2017 the Davao City Church of Christ held the 9th Annual VBS. This was a time for young men and women to come and receive Bible teaching. Teachers came from all over the island and Ron Halbrook of the Hebron Lane CoC flew in from Kentucky. We had 81 students (that were housed in the building) & 10 baptisms. The series began on Sunday and Monday through Friday they attended three lectures from 7:30 to 12:00 and then another four in the afternoon, ending at 7:00 pm. The registration fee was 200.00 Pesos ($4.00). Many sacrificed to ensure that each of the students was fed each day as well.
"One year ago today we landed at the international airport in Davao City, PI. It was on a Friday and on Saturday Larry found us at a nearby coffee shop. Sunday morning he came and escorted us to the church building. As in many other cities, and a few other continents, our Church family helped us move in to our house about twenty days later. These are good men and I am honored to know them. I have been truly blessed worshiping with them this last year and look forward to the next. These men travel the island of Mindanao to preach the gospel, they sacrifice and they serve. Both them and their families are servants of the Lord and are to be commended. Some westerners do not consider it safe to travel to this island. Frankly, I feel much safer here than in Chicago at any time of day or night! But, more than anything, this place and these people give me sense of “home." "

This was recorded on 3/26/2017. Approximately 20 seconds after I stopped recording we lost power and the lights went out.
On Monday evenings we have a Bible Study in our home, mainly in the covered porch, that way our neighbors can come by and listen. It is taught in Cebuano / Visaya and is primarily for an evangelism tool to reach our neighbors. We the study runs from 7 - 8 pm and then we supply dinner to the Christians that travel a distant to attend. We normally serve dinner to at least a dozen people.
